Dear Students, Staff, and Families of Nottoway County,
I am Dr. Tameshia V. Grimes, and I am honored to have been appointed as Division Superintendent for Nottoway County Public Schools. I bring over 20 years of experience as an educator, having served as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal, and central office administrator with responsibilities for the many components of Student Support Services.
In addition to being a long-time educator, I also am a life-long learner, having earned four degrees - Bachelor of Arts in English from Randolph-Macon College, Masters of Arts in English from VCU, Education Specialist in Supervision and Evaluation from George Washington University, and Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from VCU - and continuously learning from my interactions with students, staff, parents, and community members, as well as attending workshops, conferences, and classes to help me remain knowledgeable of innovations in education that may benefit our students.
I am a student-first educator, believing that every decision made should be done with the mindset of what is best for our students. I believe that every child is born with unique gifts and talents that manifest themselves in different ways; I believe that every one of us is born with a thirst for knowledge that education must support by providing opportunities for students to explore, question, and collaborate in order to create new learning and maintain students’ curiosity and engagement in learning; and I believe that educators have a responsibility to know each of our students as individuals in order to support their learning and growth. My goal as Division Superintendent is to work with faculty and staff to support schools and classrooms where our students want to be and where learning is fun and relevant so that our students graduate life-ready: well-rounded adults who are able to contribute to our world - local and global - by understanding and adapting to the diverse people, cultures, and organizations that they will encounter.
I am excited to serve the students, staff, families, and friends of Nottoway County Public Schools; I look forward to partnering with the entire Nottoway community and working together to achieve our goal of “Excellence in Education” for Nottoway County Public Schools.
