Welcome to the 5th Edition of the NCPS Transition to Success Newsletter!
Each month, we highlight a key life skill to support students as they grow into independent, confident, and capable young adults.
For January, our focus is on Daily Living Skills for Independence.
These skills—such as dressing, personal care, and simple meal preparation—help students build routines, confidence, and self-reliance in their everyday lives.
Families play an important role by modeling routines, encouraging practice, and allowing students to try tasks independently with guidance when needed.
Consistency and patience make a big difference!
This month, try building independence into daily routines by choosing weather-appropriate clothing, following a hygiene routine, or helping prepare a simple snack or meal.
Using visual checklists can support understanding, memory, and confidence.
