As we enter the final stretch of the school year, we need your continued support in helping our students finish strong. Please take a moment to remind your child of the importance of following school expectations each day.
Progress Reports for the final quarter will be sent home on Tuesday, May 6th. We encourage you to review them with your child and reach out to teachers with any questions.
We’re excited to host our Sneaker Ball Dance on Friday, May 30th, from 7–9 PM. However, please note: any student who receives a referral for behavior between Monday, May 5th and Friday, May 30th will not be eligible to attend. Let’s work together to make sure all students can enjoy this fun event.
SOL testing continues this week, with our 5th grade students taking the Science SOL on Wednesday, May 7th. Please ensure your child gets a good night’s sleep and arrives at school on time and ready to do their best.
The end of the year brings many exciting activities, and we want all students to participate. This is only possible if they continue to meet behavior and academic expectations.
Thank you for being our partners in your child’s success! If Dr. Lewis or I can be of any assistance, please reach out to us.

NIS Families,
As we move through these important final weeks of school, it’s crucial that we continue to stay focused, follow our Tiger Expectations, and show up ready to learn each day. Daily attendance, positive behavior, and a strong work ethic will help ensure a successful finish and the chance to enjoy all the fun end-of-year events ahead!
Here are a few important updates for this week: 🐾 7th Grade Orientation will take place on Wednesday at 6:00 PM in the Main Auditorium. We will miss our 6th graders next year, but they will do great at NMS-- Orientation is the opportunity to learn about all that awaits them at NMS and the transition to middle school 🐾
5th Grade Students will take their first end-of-year assessment, the IRW Test, on Thursday, May 1st. Please help your child be prepared with a good night’s sleep and an on-time arrival to school.
Student behavior and daily attendance will continue to be a key factor in participating in our upcoming end-of-year celebrations. We want every student to be able to take part in the exciting activities ahead!
We also encourage families to share any concerns or areas where you see NIS shining. We value your partnership and believe that working together leads to greater success for all our students.
Finally, be on the lookout — we will post and email the SOL testing schedule again this week for your reference.
Thank you for your ongoing support. Let’s keep the momentum going — we’re proud to be partners in your child’s journey!

A Quick Look Ahead at NIS - Let's Finish Strong!
Just a quick note to say how much we appreciate your ongoing support! We're looking forward to another great week here at Nottoway Intermediate School.
As we gear up for end-of-year review, it's more important than ever for students to be at school every day to make the most of their learning. We'll even have some fun "In Your Seat" attendance challenges to encourage consistent presence at school.
Please also continue to remind your child about the importance of following all school expectations. This helps create a positive and productive learning environment for everyone.
If your child needs to be absent, please remember to send in a doctor's note or a parent note upon their return, as per school policy.
Finally, a gentle reminder to ensure your child has all the necessary supplies to finish the school year strong.
Thank you again for your partnership. Here's to a successful week!

As school resumes on Monday, please remember to stop for school buses with flashing lights—no matter the direction. The safety of our students is a top priority, and failing to stop can have serious consequences.
Be especially vigilant during the peak hours of 6:30-9:00am and 2:30-4:00pm, when buses are transporting students. Let’s work together to ensure kids travel safely to and from school! 🚌
