Crewe Primary School building

Welcome to Crewe Primary School, the Home Of the Bobcats!

Mission Statement

Crewe Primary School's faculty and staff provide a quality education to all the children in our diverse community. We support, guide, nurture, inspire and encourage students and parents to achieve success. These efforts build relationships that foster productive, successful and caring individuals. Value Statement

In order to grow a community of life-long learners, the CPS students, faculty, and staff value a supportive learning environment that allows teamwork as well as individuality.

Crewe Primary School is very proud of its student’s achievement in all areas. We work to provide a high quality education in a warm family environment. Our students are excited about learning and strive to do their best. We offer hands-on experiences, demonstrations with real world connections, and we establish a 21st Century culture of learning that prepares our students to be productive citizens in our local community and ever-changing world. In addition, we utilize a variety of strategies using technology, and many incentives to encourage effort and reward achievement.

Reading is a primary focus for Crewe Primary School. We truly believe that our students will be more successful in school and later in life if they are strong readers. To make this happen, a variety of intervention strategies are utilized to meet the needs of each student. We encourage independent reading by rewarding students who read and earn points with special activities each month as well as events at the end of the school year.

Principal's Message

Dear Wonderful Families of CPS,

Welcome to another year of learning, love, and lots of fun at Crewe Primary School!

First, I want to congratulate our awesomely amazing staff, hard-working students, attentive parents, and other involved stakeholders on being FULLY ACCREDITED for the 2021-2022 school year!!!!   Once the Virginia Department of Education finalizes its reports, we can share the exact numbers.  However, preliminary data shows we rocked it and are well above the required benchmarks.

Like always, our main focus for this school year will be on academics.  Administrators and lead teachers will continue to teach the most effective strategies to the rest of the staff, help them with aligning material to the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOLs), and model activities that are student centered.  In non-educator lingo, this means we are going to continue to train our teachers with the best practices so they can be awesome teachers while keeping it engaging and fun for students!!

Another major focus is going to be on attendance and eliminating tardiness.  In fact, chronic absenteeism (when a student misses more than 10% of the school year) was the only major area in which we were flagged on the state accreditation report.  The preliminary data shows us at 25% of students being chronically absent.  Our goal is to get chronic absenteeism down below 12% of students.  In order to achieve this goal, we have a campaign planned with educational activities, fun incentives, and suggestions and tools for parents.  With everybody playing a role, we can achieve this goal.
