Principal Message

Welcome to Blackstone Primary School (BPS). My name is Delphine E. Simmons-Fowlkes, and I am very excited and grateful to serve as the principal of Blackstone Primary School. It is an honor to be a part of the BPS family. I was born right here in Blackstone, Virginia and my elementary foundation began here at BPS. I am a proud graduate of Nottoway High School. Upon graduation, I moved to Richmond, Virginia, and worked for the Commonwealth of Virginia for 8 ½ years. Upon becoming a career switcher, and to this day am blessed for my decision, I bring with me 26 years of experience in education. Nineteen of those years are in public education, three years in alternative education, two years in residential, and two years in private day school.

My goal is to work with our parents, teachers, staff, administrative and leadership teams, and the community by having consistent communication and collaboration.  By working together, we will be able to provide students with structure and what is needed for a quality education.

On behalf of the faculty and staff of BPS, I want you to know that we are committed to nurturing our students, in partnership with our parents, other family members, and community members and organizations. We are excited about working with the students and parents. Parents, we need you to serve an active role in the educational process and progress of your child, so we strongly welcome and encourage your involvement and support of BPS as we provide the BEST to our BEST.
