Principal's Message

Dear Nottoway Intermediate Students and Families,

It brings me tremendous honor to begin the 2023-2024 school year as the Principal of Nottoway Intermediate School. I am excited to serve alongside the incredible team of students, teachers, and staff that make NIS a family and who strive each day to embody “Excellence in Education.” I am eager to utilize my leadership experiences and training to support our teachers and students in reaching their highest potential.

As a dedicated educator, I am committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where all students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. My passion for education is rooted in the belief that each child can learn and that they deserve access to a high quality educational experience that prepares them with the skills necessary to pursue their own goals and aspirations. Over the last twelve years, I have gained experiences from a variety of public school settings and have served extensively at the fifth and sixth grade levels. I actually began my education career right here at Nottoway Intermediate School as a sixth grade teacher! Most recently, I have worked within Chesterfield County Public Schools as an Assistant Principal and previously served as an Instructional Designer, Title I Math Teacher, and fifth grade teacher.

My connections to Nottoway County are strong. I was born and raised in neighboring Amelia County and have several family members right here in Crewe. Coming back to NIS truly feels like coming back home, as I have already enjoyed seeing so many familiar faces this summer! Outside of school, I am married to my husband Brandon, who is a professional firefighter and we have a sweet dog named Bella. I enjoy being outdoors and I am always reading to learn something new.

I firmly believe that effective communication and collaboration between school and home are essential to student success.  I greatly value the active involvement of parents and guardians, as your partnership plays a vital role in achieving our shared goals. Our teachers and school will frequently share communication to help parents stay connected to teaching and learning. I ask that parents stay in close contact with teachers and provide updated registration information prior to the start of school so that you are able to receive these communications in a timely manner. I encourage families to take part in school activities and parent-teacher conferences. Together, we can create a strong foundation for success and ensure that NIS continues to be a place where students and teachers are eager to come to each day.

Again, it is with great enthusiasm and a deep sense of responsibility that I am rejoining this wonderful community. I believe in the work of our teachers, as they are a dedicated team of professionals who work diligently to embody excellence in teaching each day. I thank you for entrusting your child’s education to each of us at Nottoway Intermediate School and I am truly excited to partner with you and your family this school year!  If you have any questions, concerns, or simply wish to introduce yourself, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Yours in service,

Lyndsey Noel
