We’ve had an outstanding first few days of school, and it has been wonderful to see our students back in our buildings, ready to learn! Thank you to our families, staff, and community for helping us start the school year successfully. Please note that the majority of normal communications will come as a text or email; however, it was important to send this update via a voice call as well. We prefer to use calls for urgent notifications moving forward.
My goal is to provide some reminders to assist in partnership with our schools.
The parent and student portal to view grades, etc. will be open on Tuesday, August 26th.
Dress Code: We did see several students who did not meet our dress code standards last week. Students who are not dressed appropriately will be required to call home for a change of clothes. Please help us by ensuring your child arrives dressed according to NCPS guidelines.
Cell Phones & Electronic Devices: Thank you for supporting our no cell phone/electronic device policy. As a reminder, phones and devices must be stored in bookbags and are not allowed to be used from the first bell to the last bell.
Hats, Hoods, and Earbuds: Students are not permitted to wear hats, hoods, or earbuds during the school day.
Arrival Times: Please ensure your child arrives on time each day. The tardy bells ring at 7:55 a.m. for Blackstone Primary and Crewe Primary, and at 8:55 a.m. for Nottoway Intermediate, Middle, and High School. Every moment of learning matters! It is important to follow the drop off entry and exit procedures of our child's school. This allows for a safe flow of traffic.
Finally, please remember that schools will be closed on Friday, August 29th, and Monday, September 1st in observance of the Labor Day holiday.
Our schools are only successful when we have a strong partnership with our families. Thank you for sharing your child with us, for supporting our expectations, and for holding students accountable as we work together to provide the very best education possible.
If you have any questions, please contact your child’s school.

The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is proud to introduce the Blue Envelope Program, designed to assist drivers diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder during traffic stops. This initiative aims to foster safer and more comfortable interactions between drivers and law enforcement officers.
What Is the Blue Envelope?
The Blue Envelope is a tool that helps drivers with autism during traffic stops or accidents. It informs officers that the driver may communicate differently and gives instructions to make the interaction easier.
The Blue Envelope Program was created under the Code of Virginia § 46.2-203.3. Participation is voluntary and confidential.
You can request a Blue Envelope at any Virginia DMV customer service center. There is no cost, and no documentation is required. Caregivers and guardians may also request one on behalf of someone with autism.

All student-athletes must have a parent present and enter through the main doors of Nottoway Intermediate School. Physical examinations will start promptly at 5:00 P.M.
