NCPS Families,
As we continue working together to ensure a safe and positive transportation experience for all students, we want to take a moment to reinforce expectations for riding the school bus.
For our families:
Parents/guardians must be present at the bus stop to receive all elementary-aged students.
Please ensure your child is at the bus stop early and ready to board when the bus arrives.
Riding the bus is an extension of the school day, and expectations for behavior remain the same.
Students are expected to:
Sit in their assigned seat and remain seated while the bus is moving
Keep hands, feet, and objects to themselves
Use respectful language and follow the driver’s directions at all times
No food or drinks on the bus
Keep the aisle clear and belongings secured
Speak at an appropriate volume so the driver can focus on safely transporting students
Enter and exit the bus safely and in an orderly manner
Our bus drivers play a critical role in safely transporting students each day, and they deserve the same level of respect and cooperation we expect in our schools and classrooms.
At NCPS, we believe in two simple expectations—respect and accountability. When students and families work with us to meet these expectations, we ensure that every bus ride is safe, orderly, and positive for all.
Thank you for your continued support.
We Are Nottoway—Committed to Excellence.

Several questions have come up regarding Tuesday, April 21 and the special election. Please note that NCPS schools will be open as usual on Tuesday.
Only the school gyms at BPS and CPS will be used for voting, and those areas will be secured and not accessible from the rest of the building.
Thank you for your understanding!

Attendees will learn more about our division’s standard response protocol, review important safety procedures and documents, and hear from a panel of principals discussing school safety strategies.
This is a great opportunity to learn more about how our schools prioritize student and staff wellbeing. We hope to see you there!

Thank you for your understanding earlier. The hold has been lifted at the schools. Again, this was a medical emergency relating to a staff member.

As we head into the break, we need your support in reinforcing a few important expectations. All students are expected to follow the Student Code of Conduct at all times. With warmer weather here, please help ensure your child is dressed appropriately for school each day. Students should not wear hoods, hats, or headphones during the school day.
Additionally, cell phones should be turned off and stored in students’ book bags while at school.
When we return from Spring Break, we will have just 9 weeks remaining in the school year. It is critical that students are present every day as we prepare for end-of-year testing and finish strong.
We hope your family enjoys a safe and relaxing break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday, April 6th.
Thank you for sharing your child with us, and thank you for your continued support of Nottoway County Public Schools.
