This message is to confirm all schools and offices will be closed Monday, October 16th, due to a water line break at the water treatment plant. However, please note that those attending Governor’s School and SVCC programs are to attend classes as normal.
We received notification the Town of Crewe’s water plant will be undergoing repairs on Monday. This will impact the water supply at most of our schools. In an effort to notify parents in a timely manner, there is a potential school closing for Monday, October 16th. A message will be sent on Sunday that will confirm whether schools will be open or closed on Monday.
CALENDAR REMINDER: Wednesday, October 11, is an early dismissal day (12:30 p.m.) for all Nottoway County Public Schools students. Please plan accordingly!
NOTICE: We apologize for the lack of detail in the recent message about water bottles and the confusion it may have caused. This message is intended to provide context and clarification. We are resuming the expectations and practice that was in place before COVID: students who want to carry around a water bottle during the school day may do so if the bottle is clear/see-through and they can bring store-bought water to school. The bottle must be empty and can be filled with water once the student arrives at school. Students who bring lunch to school and/or who bring snacks and drinks for after-school sports and activities may continue to bring bottled/canned drinks to be consumed at lunch or practice. If your child has a situation that you believe warrants an exception, please contact your child's principal.

The regular monthly meeting of the Nottoway County School Board will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. in the Nottoway High School Mini Auditorium, 5267 Old Nottoway Road, Crewe, VA. Any person wanting to comment during the meeting must register by 7:00 p.m. prior to the meeting with the clerk. Persons making comments will be given five minutes to address Board member(s) present. It is recommended that any person making comments bring copies of any remarks, and provide them to the clerk, Mrs. Charlotte Wood, during registration.

The Nottoway County School Board will hold a work session on Tuesday, August 29th at 6:00 p.m. at the Nottoway County School Board Office, 10321 E. Colonial Trail Hwy., Nottoway, VA. The purpose of the work session is to complete the division superintendent’s evaluation.
We can't wait to see you for a new school year! As you are planning for school, please remember that class starts at 8:20 each day (for all schools). Your child needs to arrive by 8:15 each day. Every minute matters, so please have your child at school to start class on time.
Congratulations, Nottoway High School for having 61% of registration forms completed by Monday evening! Your school won the SNOWIE Treat on August 28th.
NCPS is committed to ensuring a physical environment for our students, staff, and visitors that is safe, so this summer was spent making some upgrades to each of our schools, including new locks on every classroom door and upgrades to our camera system. When students return to school on Monday, August 21, they will enter buildings through a touchless security screening system that can detect "weapons while ignoring most harmless personal items." Families of Students in Grades K-5: Please be advised that the division will not be issuing devices to students in grades K-5 during the 2023-2024 school year. NCPS will be collecting these devices and returning them to use in the classroom. A process for collection will be shared with your child's teacher.

Many of you have asked about 21st Century After School Programs at BPS, CPS and NIS and unfortunately these grants ended with summer programming. We have applied for grant funding for this year but have not heard regarding whether we were selected as recipients. As soon as we know, we will reach out.
